Over 8,000 African migrant arrived Lampedusa island Italy

In the past two days, 8,000 migrants have arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa

There are more migrants than locals. The population of Lampedusa is just over six thousand people. Illegals come by boat from Libya and Tunisia.

The situation on the island is critical: a state of emergency has been declared. Migrants behave extremely aggressively and attack police officers.

The migrant reception center is unable to accommodate everyone. The island's authorities are asking the government for help. The government, in turn, is requesting help from other countries:

"Italy needs international help in connection with a new wave of migration crisis," said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
